Privacy policy

This policy is a starting draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It should be checked against current Pakistani data protection requirements before the website goes live.

Who controls your information

What we collect

Registration details — your name, email address, phone number, and whether you are an individual, agency or builder.
Advertisement content — everything you type into an advertisement, plus the photographs you upload.
Messages — the messages you send to and receive from other members through the website.
Technical information — your IP address and the time of sign-in attempts, kept so we can block brute-force attacks.
Enquiries — anything you send us through the contact or report forms.

We do not ask for and do not want your CNIC, passport, title deeds or banking details. Please do not send them to us, and think carefully before sending them to another member.

What we do with it

To publish your advertisements — the content, your chosen contact name and, if you allow it, your phone number are shown publicly.
To let members contact you about your advertisements.
To operate your membership and contact you about it.
To review advertisements, investigate reports of abuse, and keep the site usable.
To keep the site secure.

What is published, and what is not

Published: your advertisement text and photographs, the sector, the contact name you enter, and your phone number only if you tick "show my number". Your business name is shown if you supply one.

Not published: your email address, your password, your login history, and your phone number if you have chosen not to show it.

Identity and tax numbers — we do not want them

We never ask for your NTN, CNIC, passport number or bank account details, and no field on this website is for them. An NTN in particular is confidential and there is no reason for an advertising platform to hold one.

Because people sometimes type these into a message or a description anyway, we do not rely on asking. Any number that looks like a CNIC, NTN, passport, card or IBAN is automatically replaced with dots before it is saved. It is removed on the way in, so it never reaches our database, our logs or our backups — there is no copy of it to leak, to be subpoenaed, or to be stolen.

If anything sensitive ever does have to be stored for a future feature, it is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and the key is held outside the database.

Phone numbers, email addresses and links are also stripped out of advertisement text. This is deliberate and it protects the advertiser: contact details are released by you, to one person who has asked, and you can refuse or withdraw. A number printed in a description is public to every scraper on the internet and cannot be taken back.

If someone claiming to be from Islamabad Properties asks you for your CNIC, NTN, a password or an OTP, it is not us. Please tell us.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information and we do not pass your details to estate agents, developers or other third parties as sales leads. We share information only with our hosting provider (which stores the site's data on our behalf) and where the law or a court requires it.

How long we keep it

Account details: while your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
Advertisements and photographs: until you delete them or your account is closed.
Messages: while the account exists, so that both sides keep their record.
Sign-in attempt logs: a short rolling period for security purposes.

Cookies

We set one cookie, which keeps you signed in and holds your session. It is essential to the site working and is removed when you sign out. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Your choices

Edit or delete any advertisement at any time from your account.
Change your contact details on the my details page.
Hide your phone number by unticking "show my number" on an advertisement.
Ask us to close your account and remove your advertisements — contact us.

Security

Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes and cannot be read by us or anyone else. The site is served over an encrypted connection. No website can promise perfect security, so please use a password you do not use anywhere else.
